McCoy Academy

The McCoy Academy is the longest running school within Oregon Outreach. Historically, it has served youth who have not been successful in large, urban school districts. We have partnered with Portland Community College’s Cascade campus, where OOI has a classroom at the Margaret Carter Technology Education building.

Recently, McCoy has expanded to serve adults throughout Oregon who need to earn their high school diploma online. (See the Adult Program page for additional information.)

We have partnered with Portland Community College, Cascade Campus, and now we house our classroom at the Margaret Carter Technology Education Building, Monday through Thursday. On Fridays, we house our classroom at Oregon Outreach Administrative Offices. Youth have the opportunity to enroll as PCC students and take college courses alongside high school instruction. They have access to tutoring, computer labs, library, among other campus benefits.

Students that come to us are in search of an alternative program with smaller class size and integrated curriculum to earn a high school diploma. Students receive quality instruction in all classes required to complete an Oregon diploma. In order to bridge the gap between high school and post-secondary education, McCoy Academy offers ASPIRE, a state-funded program which provides transition services to Oregon students. Additionally, students are given the opportunity to tour various colleges, universities, and vocational training sites.

Parent/Guardian Involvement:

Parents/guardians are encouraged to play an active role in their youth’s education at all of our OOI schools. By helping them to attend class regularly, be on time, and make a serious effort to study, parents can help students succeed in their daily work. Encouragement from parents/guardians, advocates, mentors, teachers, and counselors help students overcome many problems they may face.

Parents/guardians are urged to confer with advocates, teachers, or counselors at any time about their student’s progress. In order for the student to enroll, a parent/guardian must attend the enrollment/complete paperwork with their student and attend conferences as necessary.
