The Scappoose Academy was established in 2014 in collaboration with the Scappoose High School which is located in Columbia County, Oregon. The purpose of the program is to provide a smaller classroom featuring more one-on-one instruction.
Currently we are contracted to provide educational services to youth 9th thru 12th grades with a maximum of 24 students. We provide two sessions, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Referrals are done through the school districts.
Parents/guardians are encouraged to play an active role in their youth’s education at all of our OOI schools. By helping them to attend class regularly, be on time, and make a serious effort to study, parents can help students succeed in their daily work. Encouragement from parents/guardians, advocates, mentors, teachers, and counselors help students overcome many problems they may face.
Parents/guardians are urged to confer with advocates, teachers, or counselors at any time about their student’s progress. In order for the student to enroll, a parent/guardian must attend the enrollment/complete paperwork with their student and attend conferences as necessary.
Scappoose Academy primarily enrolls students between the ages of 16 and 20, who live within the Scappoose School District. To enroll, the student must:
- Be referred by the Scappoose School District via counselors and administration.
- Attend a meeting with the Site Lead Teacher to discuss student enrollment/complete enrollment paperwork.
