Vernonia Academy

The Vernonia Academy was established on September 2017 and it is housed in the former superintendent office building at Vernonia School District. It is scheduled to cease operations at the end of the current school year, so if you or your child are interested in attending an Oregon Outreach school in the area, please contact our administrative office at 503-281-9597  for information and recommendations.

We provide educational services to students from Rainier and Vernonia school districts for youth 9th to 12th grade, serving a maximum of 10 students. One session class runs from 9am to Noon, Monday through Friday. Referrals are done through the school districts.

Parent/Guardian Involvement:

Parents/guardians are encouraged to play an active role in their youth’s education at all of our OOI schools. By helping them to attend class regularly, be on time, and make a serious effort to study, parents can help students succeed in their daily work. Encouragement from parents/guardians, advocates, mentors, teachers, and counselors help students overcome many problems they may face.

Parents/guardians are urged to confer with advocates, teachers, or counselors at any time about their student’s progress. In order for the student to enroll, a parent/guardian must attend the enrollment/complete paperwork with their student and attend conferences as necessary.

Vernonia Academy primarily enrolls students between the ages of 16 and 20, who live within the Vernonia School District and Rainier School District. To enroll, the student must:

  1. Be referred by the Vernonia /Rainier School District via counselors and administration.
  2. Attend a meeting with the Site Lead Teacher to discuss student enrollment/complete enrollment paperwork.
